For the second time this season in as many opportunities, and now the 11th time in her career, Eszter Bucz has been named Sun Belt Conference Swimmer of the Week.
In all three of her individual events this weekend against FIU and Florida State, the senior finished in first place. She won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.13), 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.52) and 400-yard IM (4:21.59). In addition, her 200-yard medley relay team finished as runners-up, by just 57-hundredths of a second to a team from FSU.
The three wins Saturday brings Bucz’s season total to five first or second-place finishes in just eight events, and the other three were within the top 10.
The FAU swim team has only competed in two meets this year, and following each, Bucz has earned this conference honor. The native of Budapest, Hungary, has now won the award multiple times each of her four years as an Owl. She won it three times her freshman year, four times as a sophomore and twice last season as a junior.
