BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Florida Atlantic University's swimming and diving teams have received honors for academic achievements from the Conference USA and the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association.
The men's team achieved a GPA of 3.101 while the women's team had a 3.126 in the Fall of 2015. On the women's side three athletes are being recognized as members of the 2016 C-USA All-Academic Team. Nominees for this selection must have been a sophomore by class standing and currently hold a 3.2 GPA and above. Selected from FAU was senior Agnes Bucz who carries a 3.505 GPA in Accounting. The next member of the team is senior Rachel Crino. Crino is majoring in Psychology and currently holds a 3.63 GPA. The last member of the team is sophomore Kiley Kuether who is majoring in Neuroscience with a 3.788 GPA. Other nominees from the women's side were Katie Dodge, Sahra El-Hamaki, Carlee Jackson, and Hannah Roper.
"We set very high standards for our team and expect them to perform well both in and out of the pool," said Lara Preacco, head coach. "We are very proud of our student-athletes and look to continue to build a program that is focused on academic and athletic excellence."
On the men's side the 2016 CCSA All-Academic Honorees were announced, this list featured student-athletes who have maintained above a 3.0 through out the 2015-16 academic year. Featuring 21 members from the FAU swim & dive team: Bennett Bean, Matthieu Burtez, Joaquin Garcia Uribe, Connor Hodges, Johannes Johnston, Zachary Kitzis, Nicolas Landi, Marco Leo, Tucker Lewis, Ryan McIntire, Matthew Menendez, John Nolte, Malachi Oakes, Christian Pineiro, Colton Posey, Michael Rahrig, Aaron Spence, Shawn String, Hunter Swartsel, Matthew Wisecarver and Jason Woodburn.
