Marshall Breaks School Record on Day Three of C-USA Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Florida Atlantic women's swimming and diving team will be competing this week in the Conference USA Championship hosted at Georgia Tech. The meet spans from Wednesday morning through Saturday evening.

The championship will be broadcast on ESPN3 all week and fans can keep up with live results online.


Abigail Marshall had the top finish of the day for the Owls on Friday. She earned the silver medal in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.55 seconds, a new school record. Teammate Miranda Fellowes followed her in the top 10, with an eighth place finish behind a 56.86 time. Kara Wilkins finished in 57.96 for 14th place and Megan Reuter earned 16th place with a time of 1:00.73.

The 400 yard medley relay team of Abigail Marshall, Kyleigh Firman, Haley O’Meara and Spence Atkins finished in sixth place with a 3:47.22 time.

Lauren Beyers wrapped up her performances in the 1 meter with a sixth place finish behind a 236.75 score.

In the 100 yard butterfly, a pair of Owls had top 20 finishes. Kyleigh Firman earned 13th place with a 56.04 time. Ashlyn Hunt clocked in at 57.57 for a 19th place finish.



Danica Garbett swam the 400 yard IM in 4:25.17, finishing in 14th place. Teammate Natalie Clausen had an 18th place finish with a 4:23.95 time in the C-final.

Three FAU swimmers competed in the 100 yard breaststroke. Haley O’Meara had the top finish for the Owls, swimming the event in 1:04.43 for 14th place. Ana Neff-Jendrasko came in 18th place with a 1:05.01 time. Savannah Sawyers finished in 1:05.04 for a 19th place finish.

Saturday will be the final day of the Championships.


Day two was highlighted by junior Natalie Clausen earning the silver medal in the 500 yard freestyle with a 4:50.08 time.

Lauren Beyer took to the diving boards on Thursday and claimed sixth place in the 3 meter event with a 254.30 score. The 1 meter event will take place on Friday.

Abigail Marshall won the B heat, earning ninth place, in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.36. Danica Garbett finished 17th in the 200 yard IM with a 2:04.45 time.

The relay team of Abigail Marshall, Melanie Doan, Kyleigh Firman and Kelsey Witkay finished in fourth place in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Their time of 1:34.74 was a season-best for the group.

A group of freshman teamed up in a timed trial of the 200 yard freestyle relay and recorded a new FAU freshmen record time. Allyson Schwarz, Victoria Ellwood, Ashlyn Hunt and Miranda Fellowes finished the relay in 1:38.11.


It was a short first day for swimmers with only two events taking place.

Spence Atkins led the Owls off in the 800 yard freestyle relay followed by Natalie Clausen, Kyleigh Firman and anchored by Sharon Kok. The squad finished in 7:28.13, a season-best time, for a fifth place finish.

The FAU team of Miranda Fellowes, Abigail Marshall, Kyleigh Firman and Melanie Doan earned sixth place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.11, a season-best for the Owls.
