BOCA RATON, Fla. – The FAU men’s swimming and diving team has claimed both Swimmer and Diver of the Week in the CCSA weekly awards, the league announced on Tuesday. Will Smith earned Swimmer of the Week, while Logan Downey was named Diver of the Week.
For both Smith and Downey, this is the second weekly honor of the year. Smith earned the honor on October 31 and Downey on November 21.
Smith clinched five top three finishes between FAU’s two meets last week. On Thursday against New Jersey Institute of Technology and William & Mary, he had place second in the 1000 yard freestyle (9:45.24) and third in the 500 yard freestyle (4:47.25). Saturday at the University of Florida he had two second place finishes in the 1000 yard freestyle (9:37.35) and 400 yard IM (4:15.86).
Downey had an impressive week on the diving board with three first places titles and second place finish. Against NJIT and William & Mary, he had a pair of first place scores in the one meter (307.42) and three meter (273.22). Versus Florida, he claimed the top spot in the one meter (304.05) and second in the three meter (244.43).
The Owls will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. against Fordham and Central Connecticut’s women’s team.
