Men's Swimming Dominates the 100-Yard Butterfly Against Purdue

BOCA RATON, FL - The Owls competed in a dual meet on Friday, December 21 against Purdue at Pine Crest School Fort Lauderdale. The highlight of the meet for Florida Atlantic University was taking the top-three finishes in the men's 100-yard butterfly. Matthieu Burtez took first (53.12), Mauricio Hidalgo second (57.38), and Julian Jones finished third (1:00.85).

The men's swimming and diving team finished second overall with a score of 89. Eric Williams led in two events, placing first in the men's 100-yard freestyle and in the men's 50-yard freestyle (21.31). Ross Gunn won the men's 100-yard backstroke (56:06) and Alan Forbes finished first in the 100-yard breast stroke (1:00.21).

The women's captured four wins for Florida Atlantic with Iwona Lefanowicz taking the 100-yard backstroke (59.33), Eszter Bucz the 100-yard breast stroke (1:06.47), Agnes Bucz the 100-yard butterfly (58.61), and Frida Nilsson the 100-yard freestyle. The women's team had a total score of 81, coming in second for the meet.

FAU will compete next at Nova on January 12, in a meet featuring FAU, Nova and WKU.
