With the first day of competition complete at the Georgia Tech Invitational, Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's swimming teams sit in fourth and sixth place, respectively. Valeria Dalmastro picked up 16 points for the Lady Owls with a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 24.06.
Geni Burts continues to pace the Lady Owls as she finished fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:56.72). Jenny Harms and Shawna Griffith also picked up points in the event with times of 5:02.83 and 5:06.28 for 13th and 15th place.
Onurlu and Babaev were two of four FAU swimmers to pick up points in the 50 free. Both men swam season best times and placed fourth and fifth in the event with times of 20.97 and 21.02, respectively.
Jonathan Pinto advanced to the `B' finals of the 200 IM and finished 16th after touching the wall in 2:01.11
The three-day event continues through Sunday at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
