The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swimming teams competed in a quadrangular on Saturday with Florida State, Florida International and Indian River Community College in Miami. The women picked up wins over FIU and IRCC.
Geni Burts picked up two first-place finishes for the Owls. The sophomore (Pembroke Pines, FL) won the 200 free in a season-best time of 1:53.86 and leads the Sun Belt Conference with that time. In the 400 IM she posted a time of 4:26.52 to set a pool record.
Griffith (Atlanta, GA) swam a season-best time in the 100 fly (59.11) to pick up a second place finish, while winning the 200 fly with a pool record of 2:04.49.
In the 200 breaststroke, Ellie Weberg (Bloomington, MN) swam a season-best 2:20.51 to set a school record and set the mark in the Sun Belt Conference.
Diver Samantha Schlacterman added points for the Lady Owls with third place on the 3-meter board with 222.90 points.
On the men's side Eren Onurlu and Pavel Babaev finished second and third in the 50 free with times of 21.55 and 21.79, respectively. In only the second meet of the season for the men, the two rank second and third in the conference in the event.
Kenny Anderson (Jacksonville, FL) placed third in the 100 and 200 fly. He posted a time of 1:55.81 in the 200 fly and touched the wall in 50.86 in the 100 fly.
Freshman Matt Brody (Plant City, FL) finished third in the 100 free by touching the wall in 47.44
Both teams will compete at the Georgia Tech Invite on Friday, Saturday and Sunday next week.
