BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's swimming and diving team captured a come-from-behind 163-137 win in the home opener against Indian River State College on Friday afternoon at FAU Aquatics Center for the squad's first win of the season. The men's team came up short against Indian River, but both teams will look to continue improvements tomorrow against Princeton.

"The swimmers and divers did an excellent job today. They reached and fought for every finish. I am proud of the way they have been practicing and have been there for each other every day. Today was an incredible beginning of the season and really shows all the hard work we have put in over the past three years. Owls up to all of our athletes and coaches for a job well done. Go Owls!"
- Newcomer Spence Atkins splashed on the scene, dominating all three of her events. She captured the 1000-Yard Freestyle (10:15.13), 200-Yard Butterfly (2:03.84) and the 500-Yard Freestyle (5:03.78).
- Victoria Moretti looked strong, taking first on both boards. She claimed the 1-Meter event with a score of 247.42 and the 3-Meter with a 279.82 score.
- Will Smith showed his strength in the distance event taking home his first college victory in the 1000-Yard Freestyle (9:39.91).
- Calvin Lillo showed promise, capturing first in the 200-Yard IM (1:56.35). Lillo also competed in the 100-Yard and 200-Yard Backstroke.
The Owls host Princeton on Saturday the second home meet of the season. Events are set to start at 10 a.m. at the FAU Aquatics Center.
