In the season opener at the FAU Pool, Florida State University took a dual meet victory over Florida Atlantic University in both men's and women's swimming. The Lady Seminoles defeated the Lady Owls 188-106, while the FSU men outscored FAU 182-116.
Lisa Andersson, a junior transfer from Jonstorp, Sweden, led the way for the Lady Owls. She completed the day with three first place finishes. Andersson won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.95, 50-yard freestyle in 24.01 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:03.58. Her time in the 500 free was two seconds better than her closest competitor, Golda Marcus from Florida State.
Richard Langsett and Scott Hobson both recorded first place finishes. Langsett, a sophomore from Fort Lauderdale, touched the wall in 9:46.87 in the 100-yard freestyle. In the 200-yard backstroke, Hobson, a transfer from the University of Evansville, finished with a time of 1:52.89 to earn the win.
FAU will next compete in Miami on October 19 against UM and Tampa. The meet begins at 1 pm.
