GAINESVILLE, FL - For the third consecutive day, Eszter Bucz was the top individual FAU finisher, joining six others in the top 10 on the last day of the All-Florida Invitational.
Bucz, after a fourth-place finish Friday and runner-up slot Saturday, got the Owls' first win of the season when she beat the field in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:16.09. She also combined with Frida Nilsson, Katie Dodge and her younger sister Agnes Bucz for a seventh-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle on Sunday.
Two more FAU swimmers achieved top-three finishes. Anett Kovacs finished as runner-up by just over one second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.40), while on the men's side, Alan Forbes was third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.06).
Freshman Mattieu Burtez concluded a very successful debut meet as an Owl, with his fourth top-10 finish on Sunday, as he was sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (46.12). Eric Williams was right behind him in seventh (46.26). Williams added an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.14).
Frida Nilsson picked up her third and final top-10 finish in Gainesville by placing seventh in the 100-yard freestyle (52.50).
