Aycock took the Owls top finish for the day

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Four divers from Florida Atlantic University are competing in Greensboro, N.C. at the 2014 NCAA Zone B Championships. FAU’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are represented by Gregory Cox, Ryan McIntire, Tyler Aycock and Morgan Wankling.
Day one of the championships included the men’s 3-meter dive, with seven regional positions available for the NCAA Championships and the women’s-1 meter dive, with nine qualifying spots. Competitors in zone B include Auburn, Clemson, Davidson College, Duke, East Carolina, FIU, Florida State, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, NC State, University of Alabama, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Miami, UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Wilmington, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina and the University of Tennessee.
Aycock took the Owls top finish for the day finishing 24th in the 3-meter preliminaries with a six-dive score of 284.00. McIntire followed finishing 29th with a score of 262.45. FAU’s men competed against some of the best divers in the country with U.S. Olympic medalist Nick McCrory of Duke taking first-place. For the women’s 1-meter event, Wankling posted a six-dive score of 215.10 for 40th-place.
Competition will continue on Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12 with the women’s 3-meter springboard scheduled for Tuesday. The top four will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.
