ATLANTA, GA- Florida Atlantic University’s third day of competition at the 2014 Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships was highlighted by stellar finishes from Matthieu Burtez and Agi Bucz earning the pair marks good enough for the NCAA “B” cut.
Burtez competed in the men’s 200 yard freestyle recording an NCAA “B” cut time by hitting the pad in 1:36.18 for second-place. Bucz also met the NCAA “B” cut in the 200 yard freestyle finishing the women’s event second with a final time of 1:47.47.
In the women’s 100 yard backstroke, Iwona Lefanowicz finished seventh with a final time of 55.80. For the men’s 100 back, Hunter Swartsel also finished seventh with a final time of 51.40. FAU’s Alen Dervisevic followed tying for eighth in 52.23. Frida Nilsson competed in the women’s 100 yard butterfly earning fifth-place with a final time of 55.30. Swartsel competed in the men’s 100 fly with a final time of 50.29 for ninth-place.
In the diving events, Greg Cox took the top finish for the day winning the men’s three meter dive with a final score of 351.60. Teammate Tyler Aycock finished third with a score of 189.90. Morgan Wankling competed in the women’s one meter dive with a final score of 242.15 for eighth-place.
The 2014 Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 1.
