In the final day of action at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, the Florida Atlantic University's swim team took the top three spots in the 1650 freestyle to close out the meet with a third place showing. The men's team also finished third as the 400 free relay team took home top honors.
Geni Burts (Pembroke Pines, FL) won the 1650 free with a time of 16:56.97. she was followed by freshmen Jenny Harms (17:05.73) and Brittany Fabry (17:12.34) in second and third. Danyielle Kuykendall rounded out the scoring in the event with a time of 7:24.75 for sixth place.
In the men's 1650 free, Christian Baker took third place in a season-best 15:51.52. Also advancing to the finals of their respective events were Eren Onurlu, Pavel Babaev and Jonathon Pinto. Sprint specialists, Onurlu and Babaev took third and sixth in the 100 free with times of 46.08 and 46.41, respectively.
Pinto swam the 200 backstroke in 1:54.53 to earn seventh place.
After winning the 50 free earlier this weekend, senior captain Valeria Dalmastro took fourth in the 100 free with a time of 52.57.
In the 200 breast, the Lady Owls had three swimmers advance to the finals. Ellie Weberg took second after touching the wall in 2:19.65 followed by Elizabeth Gregory's 2:25.26 for sixth place and Christina Horton's 2:26.83 for seventh place.
