In the final home meet of the season at Florida Atlantic University, five swimmers and one diver were honored for their contributions to the program. Katie Batley, Asheley Boland, Maria Martinez, Margarita Pazmino, Antony Hine and Alex Manrique. FAU took on the University of Miami, North Florida and Florida A&M in the final meet at FAU Pool.
Andrea Van Der Plaats won the distance events for the women, swimming the 1000 Freestyle in 10:25.39 and the 500-Free in 5:08.85. Katie Eggerman finished second behind Van Der Plaats in the 500-Free with a time of 5:15.55
Dominating the sprint events the FAU men took home the top-four spots in the 50 Freestyle and top-three in the 100-Free. Pavel Babaev won both events with times of 21.13 and 47.75, respectively.
Other first place finishes for FAU, Robert Langsett in the 200 Freestyle (1:43.43), Scott Hobson in the 100 Backstroke (52.69), senior Antony Hine won the 100 Breaststroke (57.05), Adam Zeibig in the 200 Butterfly (1:55.03), Travis Howard won the 200 Breaststroke (2:07.06). Scott Helpling and Kenny Anderson finished out the day winning the 500-Free and 100-Fly in times of 5:00.84 and 52.43l, respectively
The team will travel to Gainesville to take on the University of Florida next weekend in the final meet of the regular season.
