BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving teams competed in a dual meet on Saturday against the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Eric Williamswon two events and the Owls took 39 top-five finishes throughout the day.
Williams' victories came in the 50 yard freestyle (21.02) and the 100 yard freestyle (45.93). Tyler Aycock performed well on behalf of FAU's diving team, placing 2nd in the 1 meter dive with a score of 298.21, followed closely by Ryan McIntyrein 3rd.
For the women's team, Anett Kovacs, Iwona Lefanowicz, and Morgan Wanklingwere the strongest competitors of the day. Kovacs finished in third in the 1650 yard freestyle (17:22.76) while Lefanowicz also came in third in the 100 yard backstroke (58.90). Wankling's performance in the 3 meter dive placed her in third with a final score of 262.43.
UF's men's and women's teams finished first overall. FAU's men fell to UF (178-111) while their women's team beat the Owls 169-106. FAU travels to Fort Myers on Wednesday, January 23 for a dual meet against FGCU at 6 p.m.
