Swimming and Diving Completes Day One of Conference USA Championships

The championships will continue on Thursday, Feb. 27.


Swimming and Diving Host IRSC and FGCU in Final Home Meet

Anett Kovacs and Matthieu Burtez concluded the meet as FAU's top finishers both collecting multiple wins.

Junior (2012-13): Finished the 50 yard back in 25.35 for FAU's third best finish of the season...set second best time for the season in the 100 yard back (51.88)...personal record for the season in the 200 yard back (2:00.71), 24.19 in the 50 yard butterfly, 51.37 in the 100 yard fly and 1:58.78 in the 200 IM...swam with the 400 yard freestyle relay team to take second-place, the Owls' top finish, at the Conference USA Championships...earned top academic honors for the fall 2012 and spring 2013.

Sophomore (2011-12): 2012 Sun Belt Conference Champion for the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:20.91)...took first-place at Nova Southeastern by almost two-seconds in the 400 yard freestyle (3:06.72)...part of the runner-up 400 yard medley relay team at the Sun Belt Conference Championships...voted men's hardest worker at the swimming and diving end-of-year banquet.

Freshman (2010-11): Swam a leg of the Sun Belt Conference-winning 400-yard freestyle team...during last three races of the year, had top-five finishes in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races...against Florida, to start that stretch, had personal best times in both (21.73 in 50-yard, 47.29 in 100-yard)...also in that meet, was part of winning 200-yard freestyle relay all, won four relay races throughout the season...picked up first individual win of career against Nova Southeastern, in the 100-yard freestyle race (47.32).

High School: Holds school records in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley events...member of the all-county team and advanced to the state finals relay.

Personal: Ocean Engineering major...Born in Boca Raton...son of Brian and Millie Walsh.
