Boca Raton, Fla. -
Florida Atlantic University’s Student-Athlete Academic Center honored student-athletes prior to the start of the FAU baseball game against Miami, Wednesday night. The athletes were recognized for maintaining at least a 3.0 grade point average in the Fall 2013 semester and participating in community service events in the past year.
"Our student-athletes are truly dedicated to working hard both on the field, but it is just as important to recognize them for their success in all areas," said Marlon Dechausay, Director of the Student-Athlete Center for Academic Excellence. "The number of student-athletes that are going above and beyond academically showcases not only their dedication to success in school but also highlights the quality of students that our coaches are recruiting."
Recently, FAU had 178 student-athletes, from all 19 sports, named to the 2013-14 Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. They received this honor for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. There were 28 student-athletes who hold a 3.75 G.P.A. or better and received the Commissioner's Academic Medal.
