Samantha Sweeney joined Florida Atlantic University compliance staff as an Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in March of 2014.
Sweeney came to FAU from Hofstra University where she served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Development from 2010-13 when she transitioned into the role of as Assistant Director of Athletics for NCAA Education and Compliance Services. Her responsibilities included assisting with the day-to-day operations of the compliance department. Her main areas of focus were: supervision of eligibility certification; financial aid process for all teams; the Academic Progress Rate (APR); Graduation Success Rate (GSR); as well as serving as the liaison for advisement, admissions, and academic records. She also was the sport oversight for men's and women's tennis.
Prior to Hofstra, Sweeney served two years as an Athletic Academic Coordinator and graduate assistant coordinator at Florida State University. She joined FSU's staff after a three-year stint as an athletic academic advisor at Clemson University (July 2005-08).
Sweeney majored in psychology and communication at the University of Maryland where she was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer in softball. She earned her master's degree in Education, Kinesiology with a concentration in sports psychology from Temple University.
