Nathan Hinkley joined Florida Atlantic University’s equipment staff in the fall of 2017 as the Head Football Equipment Manager.
Hinkley came to FAU from the San Diego Chargers where he served as the assistant equipment manager from July of 2011 until he joined the Owls. One of the many things he was responsible for while with the Chargers was the day-to-day operations including setting up and breakdown of all practice equipment, helping develop a database of equipment for inventory management as well as laundry operations. Along with helping in fitting the players with the helmets, shoulder pads and shoes they needed, he helped manage the contracts for most of the athletes between all the different sporting good brands as well.
Prior to the Chargers, Hinkley was a student equipment manager for the University of Minnesota, a position he served for four years (2007-11). As a student with the Gophers, his main responsibilities included helping manage practice, packing the game day apparel for games, loading the equipment truck for road games and setting up the locker room so it is ready for the players and coaches on gameday. Hinkley also helped with summer youth and team camps.
In the summer of 2010, Hinkley was invited to work as a New Orleans Saints training camp intern, providing him an opportunity to work with equipment that he had not been exposed to.
Hinkley, who is E.M., C certified and a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management with a minor in architecture, from Minnesota in 2011. He and his wife Holly reside in Boca Raton.
