Matt Murphy joined the Florida Atlantic University marketing staff in January of 2018 with an interest of gaining experience as an undergraduate student, prior to his August 2018 graduation.
Murphy, a two-year member of the FAU football team, was instrumental in the Owls’ 2017 success, primarily seeing action on special teams. He played in both the Conference USA Championship and the 2017 CheriBundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl that drew the record-breaking season to an end with an 11-3 record. During each of the last two summers, Murphy attended FAU summer sessions, and worked to help organize and coach summer high school football camps.
Prior to FAU, he attended the University of Buffalo where he saw two years of action for UB. The London, England native gained his prep football experience at the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Murphy has received the Howard Guggenheim scholarship, the FAU Business Leader of the Year Award and has earned a Minto Communications Scholarship. He was a member of the FAU Dean’s List in the Fall of 2016, has been a member of the FAU Athletics 3.0 Club since coming to campus in 2016, and has been both a Conference USA Commissioners Honor Roll and Medal Recipient.
He volunteers as a Student Accessibility Services note-taker for multiple classes and competed 30-plus community service hours each of the two years he attended FAU.
