Brenda Husinka-Coto has joined the FAU Athletics department as the Director of the Owl Club. In her new role, Husinka-Coto will plan, organize, and implement strategies to increase annual membership and unrestricted donations to help build the University's athletic program, develop outstanding facilities and fund scholarships for our talented student athletes. Her plans will include rebuilding the Owl Club to improve the Owl Club experience and add value for the members.
Husinka-Coto is also involved in the stadium project and will be managing all of the athletic sponsored events leading up to and including Opening Game Day on October 15th.
Husinka-Coto has been with Florida Atlantic University since January 2003. In her previous role at the University, she served as the managing director of technology and innovation for the College of Engineering & Computer Science. Her responsibilities included managing the colleges information technology, communications, distance learning, career services, and lab support services. In addition to overseeing building renovations of existing engineering facilities, Husinka-Coto was the college representative for Florida's first new construction building which received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Level certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Prior to working at FAU, Husinka-Coto spent more than 17 years in the information technology sector with firms including Electronic Data Systems, Pepsi Cola Latin America Division, Disney Consumer Products Latin America Division, and Cisneros Television Group.
Husinka-Coto has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan and a Master's degree in Higher Education Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership at Florida Atlantic University.
