Michael Boele was hired at Florida Atlantic in October 2007 as an Associate Athletics Director of Business Operations. She is responsible for overseeing and managing the FAU athletics budget as well as the ticket office.
Boele arrived at FAU from the University of North Florida, where she was named the first business manager in UNF history in August 2001. Along with handling and managing North Florida's budget, she was responsible for a number of initiatives that furthered the athletic program. She was part of the reclassification team that was responsible for implementing UNF's strategic plan to move to Division I. She also led the initiative and supervised the process of changing the school's logo, and initiated budget reform which allowed the athletic department to increase their revenue.
Prior to her work at North Florida, Boele worked in sports and athletics at a number of different places. She was named athletic ticket manager at Drake University in 1998, two years later she was promoted to business manager. While at Drake, she coordinated ticket sales for the women's basketball team's trip to the NCAA tournament in 2000 and 2001. She also worked in ticket sales as well as media relations for the former Orlando Wahoos of the National Pro Fastpitch League of Softball in 1997. She began her career in media relations as an intern for Florida Citrus Sports and the Chicago White Sox during spring training. Additionally, she volunteered in media relations for the World Cup and Olympic Soccer Trials.
A native of Chicago, IL, Boele received her Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with a specialty in sports management from the University of Florida in 1995. Boele resides in Boca Raton with her husband Gerrit and two sons, Jacob and Joshua.
