Aaron Thompson Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant Coach Aaron Thompson joined the Florida Atlantic Strength and Conditioning Coaching staff in the Fall of 2017 as a graduate assistant.
In his first year at FAU, Thompson will oversee the design and implementation strength programs for 12 team including: men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, cross country, indoor and outdoor track and both spirit teams. He also assists with football.
Prior to FAU, Thompson served as a strength and conditioning inter at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, he worked directly with 25 teams and assisted with the daily operation of the facility. He served in that roll from May of 2017-August 2017 when he came to Boca Raton.
Thompson worked as a graduate assistant at University of Findlay the previous year where he worked directly with men’s and women’s tennis and the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. He was elevated into that position after serving a summer internship position working with summer training of football, volleyball and the two basketball programs.
In the spring of 2016, Thompson served his first stint at FAU working as an intern. In that role, he primarily worked with football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s track and volleyball. In the final months of his internship, Thompson also served as a Muscle Lab Research.
He came to FAU from Ludus Magnus where he served a summer internship working with elite powerlifter Matt Wenning. He also served as the volunteer strength and conditioning coach for the Westerville North High School and Ridgedale High School’s volunteer football strength and conditioning coach. Prior to working with the high schools, Thompson was a football strength and conditioning assistant at Otterbein University.
Thompson holds certifications with Reflexive Performance Reset, is a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, American College of sports Medicine Personal Trainer, and the American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and AED Certified.
Thompson earned a Bachelor of Arts in exercise science from Otterbein in May of 2016. He held a 4.0 G.P.A. while working on his Master’s of Arts in Education from University of Findlay from 2016-17 and is currently continuing with his pursuit of a Master’s degree in exercise science from FAU with a projected graduation date of May 2019.
