The Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving program continues to gain recognition as Csaba Pek and Christinia Sterman grabbed weekly honors announced by the Sun Belt Conference league office earlier this week.

Pek was named the Sun Belt Conference Male Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season after two home meets last weekend. Sterman received the Female Diver of the Week honors for the first time this season.

Pek, a sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, picked up two event wins by taking the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle event in the Owls' meet against Clemson University and the University of Findlay and winning the 200-yard backstroke event in a meet against the University of Denver and the University of Cincinnati. His victory in the freestyle competition was in come from behind fashion. Pek trailed heading into the final 25 yards of the race to capture top honors by .04 and post a time of 1:45.86. He won the 200-yard backstroke event in 1:53.88. Over the weekend he won two events and had three runner-up finishes to go along with a third place showing.

Sterman, a freshman diver from Plantation, Fla., posted two consistent scores in the 1- and 3- meter diving competitions in a dual meet against Denver and Cincinnati. She tallied at least 232.10 points and recorded the Owls' highest finish of the weekend with a third place showing on the 1-meter diving board. Sterman posted 232.80 to earn the third place finish and help Florida Atlantic gain points in the team competition. She tallied a 209.50 score given out by the judges on the 1-meter diving event in a dual meet against Clemson, Northwestern, FIU and Findlay.

The Owls will return to the pool on January 9 when the program hosts the FAU Invitational at the FAU Aquatic Center.
