July 27, 2010 Boca Raton, Fla. - Cheerleaders, dance team and football players from Florida Atlantic University helped educate South Florida youth about the benefits of healthier lifestyles through fun activities during the 2010 Palm Beach County Kids Fitness Festival. The festival was held July 14-15 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Nearly 5,000 area youth attended the summer celebration. FAU student-athletes volunteered their time to create an obstacle course to test physical skills. Members of the football team guided youth around the cones, over ladders and through other inflatable obstacles. Participants received individual photographs with FAU football players, along with autographs. The FAU mascot "Owsley" also made an appearance during the two-day community event. |
