Mustafa Johnson speaks about his looking forward to playing in Conference USA.

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University hosted a launch party to officially commemorate joining Conference USA Monday afternoon at FAU Stadium.
The event was emceed by ESPN 106.3 personality and voice of the Owls, Ken LaVicka. Interim FAU President Dennis Crudele and Athletic Director Pat Chun addressed those on hand. President Crudele spoke of the increased academic stature that came about as a result of the move, while AD Chun spoke of the many ways the athletic department will benefit from the new conference. Chun also briefly recapped the massive changes that have occurred in his first year on the job.
Women's soccer player Lindsey Rice and football player Mustafa Johnsongave the student-athlete perspective on the new conference. Rice spoke of the easier travel schedule her team will have and Johnson talked about how changing leagues continued the growth of the football program that the coaching staff told him was coming while they were recruiting him.
Next was a short video revealing the updated design for the football helmet. That was followed by football player Keith Reaser modeling the full uniform, complete with the new helmet design and capped off with new FAU centric gloves to match.
