BOCA RATON, FL - Legendary Coach Lou Holtz recently spoke with members of the Florida Atlantic University Athletic Department's Director's Club during a reception, sponsored by Phil Roy Financial Services, in the Tom Oxley Athletic Center Founders' Lounge.
"The Director's Club provides a wonderful opportunity for its members to help support the education of student athletes," said Terry Mohajir, FAU's associate athletics director for external relations. "Coach Holtz addressed the idea of `paying it forward' and praised those who had, embraced the members who were providing FAU athletes opportunities, and encouraged them to get involved in the building of a stadium - a gift for not only the athletes but the entire community."
Holtz, an author, television commentator, motivational speaker, and former NCAA football and NFL head coach, gave examples of successful programs throughout the country where on-campus stadiums and successful teams had transformed the University and its community. Well versed in this area, Holtz is the only coach in NCAA history to lead six different programs to bowl games and the only coach to guide four different programs to final top 20 rankings. He praised FAU for its vision, belief and positive growth, stating that he believes FAU is on track to be one of the best programs in the country.
The Director's Club is comprised of individuals who have donated a minimum of a full scholarship, $12,500, towards the sport of their choice. For more information about the Director's Club, call 561-297-0131.
