BOCA RATON, Fla. - In last week’s four-game road trip, Florida Atlantic University shortstop Emily Lochten dominated at the plate and helped the Owls capture two conference wins. The Lake Worth, Florida, native hit .533, slugged .867, walked three times, stole three bases, hit a home run and scored 10 times.
At the plate, the junior walked, doubled twice, scored twice and knocked in a run against New Mexico State on Thursday. In Saturday’s doubleheader opener against UTEP, she homered, walked twice, stole a base and scored twice. In the nightcap, Lochten went 3-for-5, stole two bases, drove in a run and scored a school-record five runs. On Sunday, she had two more hits, drove in a run and scored. Lochten is currently batting .421 on the year and holds the program’s single-season runs scored record with 58.
The Owls are 35-20 and finished their Conference USA (C-USA) schedule with a 15-9 record. FAU will be the No. 4 seed at the upcoming C-USA Tournament.
