BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University and GA Telesis will join efforts to raise money for the Owl Scholarship Fund by hosting the 2014 FAU Golf Tournament, on Thursday, May 15 at Trump International Golf Club, 3505 Summit Blvd., in West Palm Beach.

The four-person scramble format will begin with an 11:30 a.m. registration and lunch. Play will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start and will conclude with a silent auction and an awards dinner.

"Thank you to GA Telesis for sponsoring this event and supporting our 450 student-athletes," said Pat Chun, FAU's director of athletics. "This is one of our most important events of the year. All proceeds from the outing go directly to support student-athlete scholarships. We look forward to another fun afternoon with many of our closest friends and supporters."

GA Telesis, a global leader in commercial aerospace, is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale and is one of the world's largest commercial aerospace firms with more than $1 billion in assets under management. Abdol Moabery, president and CEO of GA Telesis, is a member of FAU's Board of Trustees and serves as the chair of its Strategic Planning Committee.

"For GA Telesis and other companies in the state of Florida, FAU has become a tremendous recruiting source of some of the best talent available," said Moabery. "We especially value the leadership qualities exhibited by student-athletes. This provides us with graduates and interns that have what we call the LED triple threat; leadership education, and determination. Our support of the FAU Golf Tournament helps these student-athletes develop into future leaders."

Trump International Golf Club, one of the world's most exclusive courses, opens its doors to FAU Athletics each spring for a day of golf, fun and fundraising.

"We ask our players to `win today,' which means to win in three phases: academically, socially and athletically," said Charlie Partridge, FAU's head football coach. "The tournament's location is second to none. GA Telesis has set the fundraising tone and we thank them for their kindness. Now, we need that third phase - the participants, who I know will enjoy a great day while helping to fund academic opportunities for FAU student-athletes."
