Football stadium design
March 1, 2011
BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University Student Alumni Association (SAA) is working to help fund the University's new on-campus stadium by selling personalized bricks. The bricks, which may be engraved with an individual's name, an organization's name or a special message, will be placed in a sidewalk leading into the stadium.
Stadium bricks are available in two sizes, 8 inches by 4 inches with 60 character spaces for personalization, and 8 inches by 8 inches with 120 character spaces. The 8-by-4 brick is available for $75 and the 8-by-8 brick is $125. All campaign supporters receive 1-by-3 or 3-by-3 inch replicas of their personalized bricks and a portion of the payment is tax deductible. The stadium fund receives $35 for each 8-by-4 inch brick purchased and $73 for each 8-by-8 inch brick purchased. The SAA also receives a percentage of profits.
According to Paul Metcalf, assistant director of alumni relations at FAU, the idea for a student-led brick fundraising campaign was suggested in 2006 by Rick Smith '07, who is currently an FAU National Alumni Association board member. The SAA launched the program in 2008 with the support of University administration and has continued to promote it to the FAU community.
"It is exciting for FAU students, alumni, faculty and staff to see interest grow as the construction of our stadium progresses," said Metcalf. "I would encourage all FAU supporters to make their mark in our community and be a part of school history by purchasing a brick for the stadium."
The final location of the bricks will be determined as stadium construction draws closer to completion. Once the location near the stadium is identified, a map will be mailed to all donors.
The first batch of bricks will be ordered in early June with expected delivery by early September. Bricks purchased after June 1 may not be placed until after the stadium has opened.
Bricks will be available for purchase at the FAU spring football game on April 23 and can be purchased online anytime at http://fauf.fau.edu/brickcampaign. For more information about the stadium brick program, contact Paul Metcalf at 561-297-1248 or email@example.com.
