Ashani Roberts shattered the Florida Atlantic indoor Triple Jump record on Sunday, and was one of six top-10 FAU finishers at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville.
On her last leap of the competition, Roberts jumped 12.27 meters, easily besting the record she set just a week prior (11.99 meters). She finished first in the event.
Also, for the second straight week, freshman Michelle Jax posted a runner-up finish, this time in the 3,000 meter run. Her time of 9:58.63 was only two-plus seconds behind the first-place finisher.
The other top finishers for FAU on Sunday were:
- Valerie Dixon, 800 meter run (4th, 2:18.36)
- Rebecca Hallam, 3,000 meter run (6th, 10:09.67)
- 4x400 meter relay team of Danielle Aromashodu, Dana Cannon, Dixon, Annakay Dennis (6th, 3:53.95)
- Dennis, 400 meter dash (9th, 58.38)
The squad isn't back in action until Friday, February 10, when they travelto Boston to take part in the BU Valentine Invitational.
