Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University athletic department has recognized 207 student-athletes for achieving 3.0 Club academic status after earning grade point averages of 3.0 or higher for the fall 2010 semester.
"We are very proud of our student-athletes' high academic achievements," said Michelle Brown, director of FAU's Center for Academic Excellence. "These students work hard to balance their pursuit of excellence in academics and athletics."
Twelve student-athletes were named to the President's List after earning perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester, while another 25 student-athletes received Dean's List recognition, with 3.5 or higher grade point averages. A total of 87 male student-athletes had a 3.0 or higher GPA for the grading period, while 120 females achieved academic excellence honors.
Thirty-one football players were honored for their performances in the classroom this fall, including all-Sun Belt Conference players Marcus Bartels and Lester Jean. Meanwhile, 22 women's soccer players, 15 women's cross country runners, 12 men's soccer players, eight volleyball players and eight men's cross country runners excelled academically during their fall seasons.
